STRUCTURE AND POWER

Because systems and structures have been so successful at achieving material goals, people have come to believe these structures are the key to power.

But personal power is based on something else. That something is not a structure. It is this: IMAGINING AND CREATING WHAT YOU TRULY DESIRE.

A desire is like a dream. You keep dreaming it below the surface of your conscious mind, even if your practical sense tells you can’t make the dream come true.

Which brings us to this very important question: HOW DO YOU GO BEYOND YOUR PRACTICAL PERCEPTION?

There is an automatic tendency to think about the realization of desire in terms of STRUCTURE: “What structure can I build that will make my desire into a fact?”

If your desire is selling shoes or “getting a good job,” then yes, building a structure or system can certainly help you. But your deepest dreams go way beyond this kind of desire.

At the most profound level, what you want to make into reality has everything to do with the power of your desire and you CREATING that desire into reality. At that point, you are not dealing with structure as the primary tool. You are dealing with something that has no name: you are dealing with a process you undergo, a process that isn’t logical.

ISN’T LOGICAL.

It’s akin to diving into the water. You dive, you begin to swim, and as you swim, you acquaint yourself with the situation. You aren’t hesitant. You are bold. You move ahead. You create.

This is why I write so much about art. When you look at the creation of a work of art, you always find places where the artist isn’t working on a structure or system. He’s making something out of DESIRE. It’s magic.

You might take a look at Piero Della Francesca’s painting, Legend of the True Cross. Piero was a mathematician, and he later wrote works on perspective, so the tendency is to look at him as a kind of scientist who composed his paintings according to a system, within a structure. But as soon as you examine the many figures in the painting, you know you are looking at another world, and there is no way this world was made out of numbers or systems. The figures were made out of dreams. They are magic.

This intuitional force is greater than any structure.

With this force, you begin to approach the utterly unique YOU that you are. You are no longer working within a set of preconceptions about how you should fit into the world, into society, into “a community of like-minded people.” You are gaining POWER.

The more power you gain, the more you see how other people are largely working out of habit. They are repeating patterns. They are creating what they create within an overall structure of sameness.

Models and examples will be helpful to you. I recommend, again, ARTISTS. When you immerse yourself in painters or writers or musicians or actors, you are approaching SOMETHING THAT ISN’T A STRUCTURE. YOU ARE APPROACHING THE UNIQUENESS OF THE INDIVIDUAL CREATOR.

Notice that our science has taken up the study of commonality, sameness, universal applicability. Not UNIQUENESS.

Sameness is a cover story that obscures UNIQUENESS.

Structure is a cover story that obscures UNIQUENESS.

As I discussed in the first part of my book, The Secret Behind Secret Societies, the healer named Richard Jenkins worked his magic because he was always improvising. He was always creating beyond any system or structure. He was always viewing his work as spontaneous art. And because of this, he was attaining and creating more and more of his own uniqueness, and that equaled POWER. In that case, the power to heal. That was his deep desire: HEALING. And he made the dream into a fact by going beyond structure.

We are in a new century. No matter what problems seem to surround us, the decks are cleared. We can imagine and create without limit. We can supercede structure. We can find our deepest dreams and make them into fact.
